How do you count UPs?

Mark55 asked Category: Main

How does your store count UPS? Do you count everybody in the door? Or do you ignore people looking for directions, the post person, and others that don't seem relevant?

Every person walking thru the door is a prospective customer or up. However, we need to be reasonable and practice the golden rule. If you would want someone to count the next person or couple who walks in the door as your up then you should count the same as theirs.
The UPS driver is a prospective customer one day, but most likley not today....so no up on that one, just as a returning pick-up isn't an up.
Trying to establish a hard and fast rule is very difficult as a lot of exceptions are the rule for this. However, I've heard it said that, "anytime you have a person/s enter the door with a need, and the opportunity to build a relationship or fill the need exists then that is an up.

We count a preson or a group as an up if they have the potential to buy. A customer returning to pick-up not a up.
